Many of the above metrics need to be compared to something so you can measure its performance. How you do that is very simple.


Click on the date at the top right hand of the screen. You’ll see a calendar fly out. Make sure your “Date Range” is set to what you need and then click the “compare to” check box.


Depending on what dates you’re trying to compare (week to week, month to month, or custom), Google Analytics will automatically fill in a comparable date range when “Previous

Period” is selected. Whenever you measure and compare your data, make sure they are the same amount of time so you can get an accurate depiction of how your website is

doing. Also, make sure the most recent date is selected first, this will help you get more accurate percentages when the comparison is run.
