We do a lot of websites.  It’s a pretty complicated process and requires a lot of client collaboration: understanding how the company wants their website to look and work, what they want it to say, technical back and forth from the programmers on either side, etc.  We do it all the time and we rock at it (if I do say so myself).

If you haven’t seen the movie you really have to.  The Pursuit of Happyness, starring Will Smith (which earned him an Oscar nomination, well deserved) is an incredibly moving film based on the true story of Chris Gardner - a poor man who attempts to make it on Wall Street.

Paul brought it up in one of our Monday Meetings as a great example of how we should be.

I love words. I’m a copywriter, so aren’t I technically supposed to? But, the constant struggle that I see every day is the wrong usage of them. Not in the sense of grammatical errors (although there are some), but more or less how people and companies are using words ineffectively. There are many things that go into making great content, but here are three important questions we should all ask ourselves when we write:

#1 – What words should I use?

#2 – How should I use them? &

#3 – How many of them do I put there?

According to a study done by the global social media monitoring company Synthesio, company mascots actually generate more social media buzz and biz than celebrity endorsements!    Synthesio ranked the top 5 social media endorsers for both celebrities and mascots showing the buzz generated by mascots to be almost double that of celebs!

One of Cowley Associates exciting recent projects was for P28 High Protein Foods. P28 was created by the owners of New York Bakery in Syracuse to provide a line of high protein food. Many of us are really into health and fitness and were very intrigued to listen to Mike Christou speak about his company’s new line of high protein foods, not to mention taste them!

I just watched Spielberg’s “Lincoln,” which was incredible if only for the phenomenal, obviously Oscar-winning performance of Mr. Daniel Day-Lewis.  Incidentally, I ended the movie realizing it was also – when I was watching it – at that very moment the anniversary of his death.  That and Lewis’s performance were almost ghostly.

What I liked about the screenplay and the man himself was his ability to tell a story to introduce an idea to the table, and his wise, fatherly way of doing it: strong yet quiet, and wise as hell.
