In case you didn’t notice, Cowley rebranded! That’s right. The branding specialists felt it was time for a new look ourselves and we came up with something great. Here’s our official intro to the new us. You can almost hear the Frank Sinatra song in the background (so well used in Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can, by the way). So why don’t you come “Fly With Us!”
Depending on your age, you may or may not remember the line, "What we have here is the failure to communicate." Well, that was the problem then; but today, not so much. If you’ve got something to say, there is nothing standing in our way. Technology has made it possible for you to tell the world anything at any time in any place.
So here at Cowley we’ve started a series of video conversations or interviews, called “Talk-A-Bouts.” Our goal is to help shed some light on marketing and advertising in today’s runaway train environment.
Finally Spring! I’m so happy and so it seems is everyone else! People are walking with a spring in their step and giving out smiles like they haven’t done in months. I’ve even seen some people in shorts! Optimism is in the air in spite of the fact of the horrific tragedies that have recently touched all of us.
I know I'm going to be out of step here for some of you out there, but personally, I find "social media" a bit on the unsociable side. You write to someone ten months later you get an answer, maybe. Maybe I’m not doing it right. Who knows?
While on my treadmill the other day I heard an interesting interview on NPR’s Fresh Air hosted by Terry Gross.
Terry's guest that day was Jimmy Kimmel, the late night talk show host. I've been hearing his name quite a lot lately, so made up my mind to find out what all the fuss was about.
The Jimmy Kimmel Story
Turns out our man Kimmel got his start in radio, got fired a few times, and then moved to cable in 1999 where he and co-host Adam Carol created the now famous Man Show on Comedy Central.

Times are tough right now. It’s been four years since the recession first broke on Wall Street and many of us are feeling the repercussions now more than ever. Words like layoffs, losses, and change are as commonplace as they are unnerving. It’s hard to be in business and not be sitting on the edge of your chair, doing all you can, so those words don’t come knocking at your door.
“I HATE cold-calls!” How many times have you heard that one? You might as well say… “I HATE rejection.” Rejection, that’s a biggy, if it weren’t for that one, your shrink would find him/herself on the street!
You’ve heard it all before, “If you don’t know where you are going, how are you going to get there?” Blah, Blah, Blah…
What you need is a good idea. Something that hasn’t been said before, something that inspires people to act. To call you up and say, “I need what you’ve got!”
