She has over 2,600 followers, her business is consumer goods, and her big break was in 1959. That’s right, Barbie is on LinkedIn.
Barbie’s bio explains that she has had over 150 careers, but her “true calling remains – encourage generations of girls to place no limitations on their ambitions.”
Since its creation in 2010, Instagram has exploded onto the social media scene with over 150 million users. With built in sharing capabilities to Facebook and Twitter, Instagram is another great social media tool to help you grab customers’ attention. Now what makes Instagram so special? Instagram is similar to Facebook and Twitter, but with a focus on photo and video posts. You can follow other accounts, “like” photos and videos, and comment on them. Instagram has a built in photo editor to make your photos the best they can be before publication. Now this begs the question:
There’s Google Analytics to check the statistics of your website. There’s Facebook “Insights” to check how well your posts are doing. But, how about all those tweets? Many may know, but some aren’t aware that Twitter has its own “analytics.”
Why Your Facebook Page isn’t Organically Reaching as Many People
04/14/2014
A few months ago, Facebook made some changes to its algorithm that limited the audience who saw your company’s posts. In short, not as many people are seeing what you put up on Facebook.
Hashtags. You either love them or hate them, but either way, they’re a powerful marketing tool that we can’t ignore. Hashtags can spark viral campaigns, launch awareness for a product, or even generate more reach to your posts. In fact, tweets that use 1-2 hashtags see a 21% increase in engagement.

It was the first real winter drive of the season for me as Poe and I headed out to the “Holiday Meetup” at Owera Vineyards put on by Social Media Breakfast Syracuse. Poe and I have never missed a one and this wouldn’t be an exception.
Social Media Optimization & SEO: A Cowley Success Story
12/11/2013
Call it insomnia, a crazy passion for internet marketing and/or blogging, and/or all of the above but I am officially staying up all night to get work done and decided to open up the magic “Blog Ideas” list I have for Cowley and am going to try to take down all 27 on the list before the sun comes up. Don’t worry; I’m not doing any illegal drugs, just massive amounts of coffee. I’m gonna sleep great tomorrow night.
[Author’s note: I got about 7 of the 27 topics done that night.]
I’m kinda wingin’ this one because I didn’t take notes. But hey – I was there.
Grand Piano
Of course this story begins with a dramatic entrance. We were late (Poe and I). We’ve never missed an SMB, and can’t blame our tardiness on anything legitimate, so upon entering Syracuse Stage, we grabbed some Panera (nice placement guys), and leaned on the handrail behind the grand piano in the back.
This post stared out as a request from my VP: “I want to know what kind of metrics I should be looking at in our social media marketing.”
I took it upon myself to hit up some friends in the business, and take Poe the Gnome out to Cafe Kubal to meet some of them. While we were there Poe was recognized by a bunch of people, proving our own social media campaign (pat myself on the back) was working.
